Sex Rears Its Not-So-Ugly Head

Paul McKeon, the founder of the My Lifechange web site is currently participating in a series of ABC Radio interviews, covering the NSW North Coast. He has been discussing a range of issues relating to retirement like – Relationships, loss of identity and purpose and the fact that retirement is about more than just managing money.

On Valentines Day, the interviewer put him under stress by talking about Sex and Sensuality in later life. Now Paul is not a sex therapist, but he had read the chapter on this subject in our “Rest of Your Life” book and has just finished reading our soon-to-be-released book on relationships, so he had some ideas. He probably shocked all the under 30s in the audience by assuring the interviewer that grandparents certainly still had regular sex and that it was an important part of many relationships.

He made the point that sex in our 60s was not the same as it was in our 20s. It’s different, but not necessarily worse. He stressed the importance of communication and the fact that a good relationship involved emotional intimacy, mental intimacy, spiritual intimacy and sexual intimacy.

Getting back to financial issues for next weeks interview, will be a lot less stressful.
