Older Australians are making a very positive contribution to our Dating community today. Not least of which is their roll in entertaining new companions and potential partners.
It is estimated that Baby Boomers and Single Older Australians are spending a substantial part of their budget on courting and dating. According to the Council on the Ageing (Australia), In 2003 22.8 of households were people living alone. Sharing time and interests is the focus for these empty nesters. Enjoyed luxuries are congenial platforms for Older Australians who have now embraced the concept of dating to re-establish companionship or relationship. Aussie seniors are enjoying activities such as, eating out (80%), movies, theatre and concerts (55%), attending or participating in sports (55%), visiting gardens (41%) and art galleries (27%). So it seems that Older Australians are stimulating the economy and their own interests by dating.
Della Cory is the founder of Seniors Contacts & Young At Heart. “ As a Baby Boomer, I believe the Generation X and the Generation Y that come after me are the great recipients of the role that older Australians have played in dating, courting & partnering for at least the last 60 years.. Older Australians have relied on their partners and their strong relationships have been the basis for community strength and values that have built this country to what it is today.
We owe older Australians a huge debt of gratitude. I recognise it, the government recognises it. It says that our Single, Divorced, Parents without Partners & Widowed should be supported & encouraged by their families and by the communities in their efforts to attract a new life partner. It is proven that love, affection and the potential of it, takes on a health – role in the body and makes us feel Young At Heart.
“A personalised introduction service is becoming a preferred, socially acceptable and convenient option. This is due to the screening process” says Ms Cory. “I feel and look younger than my age” is a frequent expression from applicants. The member can meet and discuss their partner preferences and the agency selects from an extensive member base of fair and decent people.
“We also provide access to a series of sophisticated Social functions around food & wine, culture, the arts & literature”
“We get a lot of enquires from sons and daughters, concerned that it isn’t good for their parents to be alone. There’s a lot of demand” say’s Della, a veteran Master Matchmaker with 17 years experience. Due to all the questions & special issues seniors (most who have only been with the one partner) have, she has written a DATING FOR SENIORS MANUAL. This helps boost confidence and has easy to follow pointers based on the most common issues.
