It’s rare to see someone over the age of 50 who puts a lot of energy into the way they look.  It’s almost as though they’re stuck in a time warp and have forgotten how hot they looked in their prime (whatever age that was) and how much time and effort they used to put into their grooming and selection of clothing.  Style was important to them then as they were probably trying to attract a partner, get a great job and knew that they had to put the time and effort into it otherwise they’d miss out.   It’s as though with time passing the energy to keep up-to-date and look ‘hot’ goes with it.

So what that you’re a bit older, so what that your middle may have spread a little (for some), so what that the hair is grey (there’s a lot you can do about that) and that the skin isn’t as tight as it was years ago.  That doesn’t matter, what does matter is that you still focus on looking good because it makes you feel better and it makes a huge difference to the way you are perceived by others and to the opportunities you will be offered.  It adds to the quality of your life.

You’re getting older – big deal – it doesn’t mean you have to roll over and die and think that you’re past it.  You’re never past it whilst you’re breathing.  You can make a difference to the quality of your life, right up until you die.  You can make a difference to the rest of the world – right up until you die.  So, what are you waiting for.  Have a look in the mirror – think back to when you were 30 or younger and put as much effort as you did then into the way you look, right NOW.   Whilst you’re at it, have a think about what you talk about when you’re in company: is it boring and ho hum stuff, do you whinge and complain a lot about what isn’t right or is it interesting?  Do you follow current events and educate yourself in the areas of interest to you or have you given up and think – oh well, I’m getting old so it doesn’t matter.  It does matter and life long learning is ‘in’ – be a part of it.  It’s not about being mutton dressed up as lamb – it’s about being the absolute best you can be  – RIGHT NOW.
